How It Works

Independent film teams create short films set in a shared universe. This framework is used to share resources and promote films together as a united group.

If you've ever been in a 48 Hour Film Project or other film competition, the Anthology Jam is much like those: You get a team together and make a short film. In this case the focus is cooperative, not competitive. Your team will make a short set in the same universe as the other teams. Using this shared universe, the Jam will have shared filming spaces, props, sets, and other resources to make it easier for you to get something made and to focus on making it great.

Since teams will produce different stories set in the same universe, those stories are going to be bundled together into a shared anthology. They'll be promoted together and distributed together to highlight the creative identity of our film community.

What You Need To Join

At minimum, a participating team needs to be able to produce a short film. That means a director, producer, and director of photography. One person can take on multiple roles. All we ask is that you have proof of having produced a short film before. Whether it be a 48-Hour Film Project entry, commercial, or other production that one of your team leaders was a lead producer of.

Additional team members are up to you. You are free to bring your own actors, writers, and other crew.

But if you're a smaller team looking for new actors to work with or scripts to film, we plan to have you covered. The Anthology Jam is soliciting scripts and running casting calls for the teams that want or need them.

We are also interested in involving other individual creatives and crew members who are looking for teams, and are here to help match up team leaders with potential crew.

For Individual Creators

What if you don't have a team? You're in a below-the-line production niche, or you're an aspiring actor, or a screenwriter looking for a writer's room to join.

We'll be holding an intake event to help match people up with teams. Please subscribe to our mailing list for further updates, including future casting calls for actors.

In the meantime, we're also building a core of creators whose work can benefit everyone. We would like to talk to you and find a place for your talents.

We are especially interested in:

  • Set and Prop Designers

  • Costumers

  • Matte Artists

  • VFX and SFX Artists

  • Makeup Artists

  • Concept Artists

  • Editors
